Gergely Leads Demon Deacons to Solid Opening Day of Jim Green Invitational

Sophomore Rosalind Gergely secured a first-place finish in the women’s javelin.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Behind a strong outing from sophomore Rosalind Gergely, the Wake Forest track and field team opened competition at the Jim Green Invitational at the University of Kentucky Track and Field Complex on Friday afternoon.
Gergely secured a first-place finish in the women's javelin after recording a throw of 50.39 meters on her final attempt.
The Pottsville, Pa., native has had an impressive sophomore campaign, highlighted by setting a facility and meet record at the Wake Forest Invitational, where she logged a personal-best distance of 52.99 meters to move into third all-time in school history.
Additionally, Gergely has placed either first or second in all five meets she has competed in this outdoor season, including first-place finishes at the Duke Invitational and the Bob Davidson Team Challenge, along with a runner-up performance at the Raleigh Relays.
