The Matchup
• Wake Forest returns home to David F. Couch Ballpark on Wednesday evening to take on area rival UNCG at 5 p.m.
Last Time Out
• The Demon Deacons finished the weekend with a 2-2 record, splitting with both Quinnipiac and Elon.
• Most recently, Wake Forest traveled to Elon on Monday and earned a 13-7 win. The Deacs drew 14 walks in the game, while Jared Shuster struck out 11 batters for his second-straight start.
• Shane Muntz tied the program record with five walks in the game.
• Chris Lanzilli tallied hits in all four games and has now recorded a hit in all eight games this year.
Wake Forest Storylines
• The Demon Deacons return an experienced group in 2019, bringing back eight of the nine position starters and two-thirds of the weekend rotation. Last year, Wake Forest had the fifth-most starts from freshmen in the country, with five rookies making more than 35 starts each. The Deacs return 88 percent of the team's hits from last year (437/499), as well as 71 percent of the innings pitched (366.1/515.1).
• This is the first season the Deacs will have full use of the Chris Hurd Player Development Center, which was completed last month. See page five for additional details.
• Wake Forest boasts three of D1Baseball's top-100 college draft prospects for the 2019 MLB Draft, including Friday starter Morgan McSweeney (No. 58), Saturday starter Colin Peluse (No. 88), and draft-eligible sophomore outfielder DJ Poteet (No. 100).
Opponent & Series History
• Wake Forest leads the all-time series against UNCG, 40-15. Last year, each team picked up a win in the road game. In the most recent meeting, April 17, the Deacs stormed back from a 9-1 sixth-inning deficit to tie the game with four ninth-inning runs, and won it 11-9 in 11 innings.
• The Spartans have a 3-2 overall record and are coming off back-to-back losses to Virginia Tech. UNCG is led by Austin Embler, who's hitting .524 with a home run. Last year, UNCG went 39-15, but lost in the SoCon Tournament.

• Wake Forest has a three-game series against Furman. The teams will play Friday at 6 p.m. at BB&T Ballpark in Winston-Salem, Saturday at 2 p.m. at BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte, and Sunday at 1 p.m. at Fluor Field in Greenville, S.C.
