WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- The No. 15 Deacons faced their toughest test at home this season against No. 32 Syracuse, but earned the 5-2 win to start the day. Wake (15-3, 5-1 ACC) remains undefeated at the WF Tennis Center after capping the doubleheader with a 7-0 victory over NC A&T.

Trailing 1-0 in doubles against Syracuse (10-6, 3-4 ACC), the Deacs came from behind to take courts one and three in a tiebreak to pick up the opening doubles point. On the top court, 38th-ranked Emma Davis and Chandler Carter pulled through with a 7-6 (8) victory to even doubles up at 1-1. Anna Brylin and Peyton Pesavento jumped out to a 4-1 lead, but the Orange rallied back to tie the match 6-6, forcing a tiebreak. The freshmen clinched the doubles point, handing Wake a 1-0 lead with a 7-6 (5) decision on court three.

Syracuse evened the score and then took the lead after winning back-to-back singles matches on courts one and two. Chandler Carter tied the match at 2-all with a 6-3, 7-6 (5) win in the sixth spot. Wake rallied back with three three-set matches.

After dropping the first set 6-1, sophomore Eliza Omirou answered back with a 7-5, 6-3 three-set victory, putting the lead back in Wake's hands, 3-2. Brylin clinched the win for Wake on court five, downing Dina Hegab in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3. Saby Nihalani capped the 5-2 victory with a 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (5) decision in the fourth spot.

Wake Forest swept NC A&T in the second game of the doubleheader. The Deacs got off to a strong start winning all three doubles matches and kept the momentum rolling in singles, not allowing the Aggies to take a set.

MC Meredith picked up the first singles victory for Wake on court six, 6-2, 6-0. Pesavento and Anna Ulyashchenko both finished soon after with 6-0, 6-0 decisions to push the Deacons' lead to 4-0. Joanna Zalewski defeated Brenna Bryant 6-0, 6-2 on court five as Wake Forest took control 5-0.

Lexi Franco earned a 6-1, 6-2 win and 46th ranked Davis capped the match, defeating Fabiana Ramirez 6-2, 6-0 in the one-spot.

Up next, Wake Forest hits the road for a four-match road swing taking on Notre Dame Friday (March 22) and Louisville Sunday (March 24). First serve is set for 3:30 and noon respectively.
