NOTRE DAME, IND. – The 17th-ranked Demon Deacons defeated No. 40 Notre Dame 5-2 on the road on Friday night. Wake Forest improves to 16-3 overall and 6-1 in ACC play.

The Deacs dropped the first doubles match on court three, but bounced back as Chandler Carter and Emma Davis earned a 6-4 win on the top court. Just minutes later, MC Meredith and Eliza Omirou clinched the opening point, 6-4 in the second spot.

Wake took a 3-0 lead as freshman Peyton Pesavento topped Zoe Taylor 6-3, 6-2 on court six and Davis followed with a 7-6 (5), 7-5 victory on court one. The Irish (10-8, 3-6 ACC) put their first point on the board on court four, but Wake Forest clinched the match as Carter recorded a three-set, 6-3, 5-7, 6-1 decision. Omirou put the fifth point up for Wake Forest on court two, winning the final two sets after dropping the first to defeat Ally Bojczuk 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Wake is back in action on Sunday at noon at Louisville.
