No. 14 Deacons Fall to No. 20 Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. – No. 14 Wake Forest suffered just its second ACC loss of the season, falling to No. 20 Florida State 5-2. The loss snaps a four-match win streak for the Deacons.
Wake Forest (17-4, 7-2 ACC) won the first doubles match on court three 6-1, but the Seminoles rallied for a 6-2 win on court one and a 6-3 decision on the middle court to earn the doubles point.
The momentum remained with Florida State (15-4, 7-2 ACC) as it took three consecutive singles matches to clinch the victory. Down 4-0, Eliza Omirou put the Deacons on the board with a three-set effort, 6-1, 2-6, 6-0 in the three spot.
Freshman Saby Nihalani added another point for Wake Forest, taking down Nandini Das 6-4, 6-3 on court four.
After falling behind 6-5 on court one, 32nd-ranked Emma Davis battled to win the first set 7-6 (5) before No. 26 Carly Touly answered back with a 6-4 set two decision. The match went to a tiebreak in place of the third set where Touly came out on top 10-5 to give the Noles their final point for the 5-2 victory.
Wake Forest will wrap-up a four-match road swing with a visit to No. 29 Miami on Sunday at noon. Fans can watch the action on ACC Network Extra.
