14th-Ranked Deacs Fall to No. 29 Miami

CORAL GABLES, FLA. – No. 14 Wake Forest women's tennis dropped 6-1 to No. 29 Miami on Sunday afternoon at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
Miami (13-5, 6-4 ACC) jumped out to a 1-0 lead after picking up doubles wins on courts three and one, before the final doubles match was abandoned.
Wake Forest (17-5, 7-3 ACC) struggled to find momentum on the singles court as Miami earned consecutive wins before junior Chandler Carter put a point on the board for the Deacons. Carter topped Ulyana Shirokova, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 in the fifth spot.
The Canes wrapped the match with the final singles win on court six. Lexi Franco battled, but fell 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 as Miami handed the Deacs just their third ACC loss of the season.
Up next, the Demon Deacons return home to host No. 10 NC State. First serve is set for 4 p.m., at the Wake Forest Tennis Center.
