Deacs Sweep ACC Weekly Awards

Petros Chrysochos named Player of the Week while Chrysochos and Bar Botzer pick up Doubles Team of the Week honors
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's tennis team swept the ACC's weekly accolades Tuesday (March 5) as Petros Chrysochos and Bar Botzer were recognized by the league.
Chrysochos was named the league's Player of the Week while he and partner Bar Botzer were tabbed as the Doubles Team of the Week. This is the second time that Chrysochos and Botzer have been named Doubles Team of the Week, also garnering the honor on Feb. 5. It is Chrysochos' first Player of the Week honor this year.
Chrysochos had a perfect 2-0 week in singles and doubles, helping lead the Deacs to victories over Virginia Tech (6-1) and Duke (7-0). The senior picked up a ranked win at the No. 1 singles position against the Hokies, defeating No. 58 Jason Kros, 6-2, 6-0, before defeating Duke's Catalin Mateas.
He and Botzer picked up a ranked doubles win in their victory over Virginia Tech, downing the No. 25 duo of Korsgaard and Ribeiro of Virginia Tech which clinched the doubles point. The pair also defeated Mateas and Sculley of Duke, opening the doubles action for the Deacs against the Blue Devils.
Wake Forest returns to action on Sunday, March 10 at UCF, with first serve in Orlando set for 12 p.m. The match will be played at the USTA National Campus, the site of this year's NCAA Championships.
