WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - No. 14 Florida State defeated Wake Forest 65-57 in its regular season finale at the LJVM. Brandon Childress led the efforts for the Deacs with 13 points, while Chaundee Brown fell one rebound shy of a double-double with 11 points and nine boards. Senior Ikenna Smart collected seven boards in his final home game.

Senior Anthony Bilas, making his first career start, recorded a steal in the opening possession sparking an early 14-2 run for the Deacons. Florida State answered back with a 12-2 run to pull within one with just over six minutes to go in the first frame.

Wake Forest (11-19, 4-14 ACC) finished the first half strong led by Brown who hit double figure scoring early, draining a three with 2:13 on the clock to give the Deacs a 29-23 advantage. The defense held the Seminoles without a field goal for almost three minutes and a pair of free throws from Isaiah Mucius gave Wake a 31-24 lead at the half. Wake Forest went a perfect 16-of-16 from the free throw line in the first 20 minutes.

Florida State's (24-6, 13-5 ACC) offense accelerated in the second half, shooting 54 percent from the field. Wake maintained a narrow lead for the first 10 minutes of the frame, but the Seminoles went 5-of-6 to tie the game 45-all and then added an 18-2 run. Hoard ended the Seminoles' run with an And-1 to cut FSU's lead to 10 with 4:40 to go.

Wake Forest strung together a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to nine with under two minutes remaining. The defense held FSU without a basket for the final two and a half minutes and Bilas hit his first career three, but the 14th-ranked Seminoles took home the 65-57 victory.

The Deacons recorded 45 rebounds, the most since defeating Pitt at home earlier this season.

13th-seeded Wake Forest will travel to Charlotte for the ACC Tournament on Tuesday (March 12), facing 12th-seeded Miami at noon. The game will air on ESPN and Raycom affiliates.
