AUGUSTA, Ga. – Wake Forest women's golfers Jennifer Kupcho and Emilia Migliaccio will compete this week in the inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur. The event will be held April 3-6 and features 72 of the top women's amateur players in the world.
The entire field will play the first and second rounds of the event on Wednesday and Thursday at the Champions Retreat Golf Club in suburban Augusta. On Friday, all 72 players will participate in a practice round at Augusta National Golf Club before the top 30 players make the cut for the final round on Saturday at the famed home of The Masters.
Golf Channel will have coverage throughout the tournament with highlights, interviews and live programming. Saturday's final round will be covered live on NBC from 12-3 p.m.
The tournament is the first-ever women's event at Augusta National. Both Kupcho and Migliaccio received invitations to the tournament due to their place in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
Kupcho is the No. 1 amateur player in the world in the WAGR and is the reigning NCAA individual champion. She has nine career wins for the Demon Deacons and has tied the NCAA record for most career rounds in the 60s with 34. The three-time All-American is the holder of 12 Wake Forest program records, including season scoring average, career scoring average, low 18-hole score, low 54-hole score, and tournaments under par for both a season and career.
Migliaccio is No. 18 in the WAGR and is the reigning ACC Freshman of the Year. She has three career victories and joins Kupcho and Stephanie Neill as the only Demon Deacons to have at least three wins by their sophomore year. The 2018 All-American has finished in the individual top 5 in four of her eight collegiate events this season.
Kupcho headlines the first group to tee off on Wednesday to open the tournament, with a 9 a.m. tee time. Her group has a tee time of 11:12 a.m. for Thursday's second round. Migliaccio will tee off at 10:24 a.m. on Wednesday and 9:48 a.m. on Thursday.
