WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest women's golf team had a pair of players honored as the Women's Golf Coaches Association named its watch list for the PING WGCA Player of the Year Award. Senior Jennifer Kupcho and sophomore Emilia Migliaccio were among the 10 players named to the watch list, as Wake Forest joined Stanford as the only schools with multiple selections.
Both Kupcho and Migliaccio are also in the top 5 of the watch list for the ANNIKA Award
Kupcho, the 2019 ACC Co-Player of the Year, has a stroke average of 70.96 this season, the third-best in program history, trailing only her sophomore (70.61) and junior (70.60) seasons. She captured two collegiate titles, the Tar Heel Classic Casa de Campo and the Bryan National Collegiate, where she became the first repeat winner in the tournament's history. Kupcho has set the NCAA record with 35 career rounds in the 60s and her nine career wins is one shy of Stephanie Neill's school record of 10. In addition, the top-ranked amateur in the world won the inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur last month and will begin her pro career later this month at the U.S. Women's Open after qualifying last month.
The 2019 ACC individual champion, Migliaccio has won three times this season. She was also victorious at the Tar Heel Invitational and the Bryan National Collegiate. Her stroke average of 71.00 ranks fourth in program history as Migliaccio reached a career-high No. 2 in the Golfweek individual rankings last week.
The pair helped Wake Forest advance to the NCAA Championships, which begin Friday at the Blessings Golf Course in Fayetteville, Ark. The top eight teams from the four rounds of stroke play (May 17-20) will play in match play (May 21-22) for the NCAA title.
