JOHNSON, Ark. – The second round of the 2019 NCAA Women's Golf Championship was suspended due to severe weather that moved through the area during Saturday afternoon. Teeing off in the morning, Wake Forest nearly completed its round before play was halted, shooting 6-over par on Saturday to stand at 23-over for the championship.
The completion of the second round is planned for Sunday morning at the Blessings Golf Club, beginning at 10 a.m. No team completed its second round on Saturday and half the field (12 of 24 teams) had not teed off yet when play was suspended. Due to the change in schedule, the stroke play portion of the tournament has been shortened from 72 to 54 holes, with all teams competing on Monday's third round. The top eight teams following the conclusion of the third round will advance to the match play portion of the championship, which begins Tuesday.
The Demon Deacons are currently T-14th place, but six teams ahead of them have not played a single shot in the second round.
Three Demon Deacons completed their second round on Saturday. Emilia Migliaccio had the Deacs' first round in red figures of the tournament with a 3-under 70 in the second round. After starting her round 2-over through four holes, she used a late charge, highlighted by three birdies on her final five holes to get to 3-under for the round.
Siyun Liu posted a 1-over round of 74 and Vanessa Knecht had a 6-over round of 79, joining Migliaccio as the Deacs who completed their second round. Jennifer Kupcho is 2-over for her round with one hole remaining, while Leitiza Bagnoli is 8-over with two holes to play. Both will complete their second round on Sunday morning.
