Wake Forest has now been ranked in the top 10 nationally in 36 consecutive polls.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Wake Forest men's soccer program received a No. 4 national ranking in the preseason, United Soccer Coaches announced Tuesday evening.

The Demon Deacons have now been ranked in the top 10 in 36 consecutive polls, and in the top 25 in 56 consecutive polls, dating back to the 2015 preseason poll.

"This ranking is a testament to the program we've built and the success we've had in the past," head coach Bobby Muuss said. "While we're honored to receive the recognition, this team knows how hard it needs to work to build its own legacy."

Wake Forest is the top ACC team in the rankings, joined by six others, all of them ranked in the top 16. Those include No. 6 North Carolina, No. 9 Notre Dame, No. 10 Duke, No. 12 Virginia, No. 14 Louisville, and No. 16 Virginia Tech.

The Deacs' season-opening opponent, UCF, is ranked No. 15 heading into the season. Other 2019 foes, including Creighton, NC State, Syracuse, Clemson and Loyola Maryland are also receiving votes.

Wake Forest received four of the 27 first-place votes in the poll and received 607 total points. Maryland is ranked No. 1 with 13 first-place votes and 637 points, followed by Indiana (six first-place votes, 623 points) and Akron (two first-place votes, 621 points).

Under Muuss, the Deacs have reached the NCAA Round of 16 in each of the last four seasons, as well as three NCAA quarterfinals and one NCAA College Cup final. Wake Forest went 18-3 last year, claiming its fourth-straight ACC Atlantic Division title.
