Dear Demon Deacon Nation,

We are gearing up for a big Homecoming weekend packed with activities and Deacon sports, but first let's give a big round of applause to everyone who helped make last Friday a day for the Deacs that we'll remember forever. From the ribbon cutting for the Sutton Sports Performance Center and Shah Basketball Complex, to the thrilling 24-18 victory over the Tar Heels, and all that happened in between, here's a big shout out to every member of Deacon Nation for making it an incredible day.

I appreciate all the "behind the scenes" folks - concessions workers, our ticket office, ushers, operations staff, transit drivers, Wake Forest and Winston-Salem police, campus workers and on and on who helped our fans overcome the special challenges of a 6:00 p.m. Friday kick-off! To see all those Wake Forest fans clad in black, along with a few of our esteemed guests in blue, pack BB&T Field was awesome. And our student crowd was even bigger than the Home Opener, reaching 3,159 - just six away from being the most since 2008! Thank you for helping the Deacons notch the first leg of the "Big Four" Championship!

Now, on to the updates…

Celebrating Homecoming, Wake Forest Soccer, and Varsity Club!

This weekend is Homecoming and Varsity Club Weekend, and we are excited to welcome alumni and former student-athletes home. We have two big sport reunions marking both the 25th year of Wake Forest women's soccer and the 30th anniversary of our first ACC Men's Soccer Championship. Women's soccer has a Friday night home match with Virginia, while men's soccer plays Syracuse Saturday at 7:30 p.m.   In addition to attending the games in Spry Stadium, alumni of both teams will be celebrating with activities throughout the weekend. We're also hosting a reunion of former varsity swimming & diving student-athletes.  The Athletics action begins with a 6:00 p.m. Friday start for field hockey in Kentner Stadium vs Boston College.

Gameday for Elon Starts with Jukebox Rehab in the Free I'm A Fan Zone 9 a.m. Saturday
Self-proclaimed country music disrupters Jukebox Rehab will begin rocking the I'm a Fan Zone stage on the front lawn of McCreary Tower, next to the Deacon Statue,  at 9:00 a.m. Come early, visit with members of the Wake Forest basketball team, enjoy a cold beverage, food trucks, games for the kids, the Deacon Walk and more fun before you head into BB&T Field for our 12:00 noon kick-off. Remember the clear bag policy and allow plenty of time for entry procedures at the gate, including metal detector screening. Click here for all the gameday fan information.

For your Homecoming game tickets visit GoDeacs.com today! And if you haven't been back to BB&T Field in a while, please familiarize yourself with stadium policies like the previously mentioned clear bag policy and metal detection.

RSN Game? What about the ACC Network?
Saturday's game vs. Elon will be televised on ACC Regional Sports Networks (RSN) which includes many of the regional FOX Sports networks across the country.  Because of a longstanding contract, up to 17 ACC football games as well as some men's and women's basketball games, will still be carried on RSNs annually for the next several years.  RSNs that carry ACC games include FOX Sports South, FOX Sports Florida, FOX Sports Midwest, FOX Sports Indiana, New England Sports Network (NESN), SportsTime Ohio, ROOT Sports Northwest, AT&T SPORTSNET Pittsburgh, NBC Sports Washington and the YES Network.  For a list of RSN affiliates carrying the Wake Forest vs. Elon game this Saturday or information on live-streaming, please click here

Meanwhile, the ACC Network keeps picking up steam - and subscribers - we are ahead of projections with more to come soon!  Deacon football will be back on ACCN next week at Boston College for a 3:30 p.m. kick-off.

Colonnade Partnership to Enhance Gameday
Fans sitting in the Flow Lexus Club, McCreary Tower Suites and the Touchdown Club may be interested to know that we have partnered with the Colonnade Group, an elite hospitality services company, to design and implement enhancements in our premium areas at both BB&T Field and LJVM Coliseum.  Having worked with the folks at Colonnade previously, I am excited to draw on their experience to elevate the fan experience here as well.  Click here to read more about the Colonnade Group.

2019-20 Men's Basketball Schedule Is Announced
Wake Forest's 20-game ACC regular season schedule was released by the conference last week during a primetime special on the ACC Network. The Demon Deacons will open conference play with the season-opener at Boston College on Nov. 6 and will host NC State on Saturday, Dec. 7 for the ACC home opener.  Click here for a full run-down of the schedule.

Men's and Women's Golf Go Low to Start the Year!
As I write this, the women are leading the ANNIKA Intercollegiate after two-and-a-half rounds, and freshman Rachel Kuehn currently holds a four-shot lead in her first tournament at Wake Forest. The men came from behind to win the 2019 Rod Myers Invitational Sunday, shooting 7-under during the final round at the Duke University Golf Club to turn a six-stroke deficit into a three-stroke victory.  It's always fun to win in Durham.

Thanks for all you do for the Deacs! Remember to send me your thoughts and suggestions and let me know how we're doing by emailing wfuad@wfu.edu.  See you this weekend!
