THE MATCHUP
• 24th-ranked Wake Forest is set to open its home slate of spring matches against College of Charleston and Winthrop on Saturday at the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center.
• The Deacs will take on College of Charleston starting at 10 a.m. and Winthrop at 3 p.m. This marks the second consecutive season Wake Forest begins the spring season hosting College of Charleston..

LAST TIME OUT
• The majority of the team started the spring in Dallas, Texas to take part in the Metroplex Mania hosted by SMU. The Demon Deacons competed against, SMU, Wisconsin and North Texas over the three-day event.
• The No. 10 ranked doubles pairing of Eliza Omirou and MC Meredith traveled to Palm Springs, Calif. for the National Collegiate Tennis Classic. Omirou and Meredith advanced to the semifinals of the event before falling 8-4. Omirou also made a run in the singles draw, advancing to the semifinals before dropping the match in straight sets.
• The Demon Deacons are coming off a 21-9 season and a run to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

QUICK HITS
• Junior Eliza Omirou comes into the spring season with 99 career victories combined between singles and doubles play. This included 20 wins last season with doubles partner MC Meredith.
• Omirou and Meredith's doubles win percentage of 75.0 percent ranks third in program history with their 13 wins in ACC play ranking fifth.
• Last season, the Deacs finished with a 13-1 record in home matches with the lone loss coming to No. 10 NC State.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS
• College of Charleston ended the 2018-19 season with a record of 15-11 and fell in the semifinals of the CAA Championship to James Madison.
• The Cougars return three of the top four players from singles last season.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
• Winthrop finished last season with a 16-8 record including a Big South regular season and tournament title. They went a perfect 9-0 in conference play and have not lost a Big South Conference match since the 2016-17 season.
• After automatically qualifying for the NCAA Tournament, the Eagles fell 4-3 to Oklahoma in the first round.

UP NEXT
• The Demon Deacons will head to Stillwater, Okla. for the ITA Kickoff. On Saturday, Wake Forest opens the weekend against Ohio State at 4 p.m.
• Last season in the ITA Kickoff, the Demon Deacons defeated Arizona State on the opening day before falling to No. 14 South Carolina in Columbia, S.C.
