The Matchup

  • Wake Forest will host the UAB in the Demon Deacons' second-straight match at Spry Stadium. 

  • The matchup will be the second and last non-conference tilt for the Demon Deacons this season. 

  • The Demon Deacons enter the matchup with a 2-0-0 record, after beating NC State on Oct. 3.

  • This will be the third matchup all-time between Wake Forest and UAB with the Demon Deacons having won the first two showdowns.

  • The Demon Deacons first played UAB in their inaugural season in 1980, and have not seen them since their last meeting in 1996.

Last Time Out

  • The Demon Deacons won their home and ACC opener on Oct. 3 against NC State by a final of 4-1. 

  • Junior forward Kyle Holcomb scored a brace to help lead the Demon Deacons to victory.

  • Senior Machop Chol and sophomore David Wrona also notched goals in the 70th and 71st minute to help put the contest away. 

  • Sophomore Jake Swallen had an impressive performance contributing two assists in the win. 

  • Goalkeepers Andrew Pannenberg and Cole McNally both contributed with a save. 

  • It was the Demon Deacons' eighth-straight ACC-opening victory.

  • The victory moves Wake Forest to 30-11-5 all time against the Wolfpack.

Scouting the Blazers

  • UAB comes to Winston-Salem for its second-straight ACC matchup after falling to Clemson 2-0 this past Monday.  

  • The Blazers started the 2020 season off with a strong performance against Central Arkansas, winning 3-2.

  • The Blazers dropped their next two matches with back-to-back losses against Georgia Southern and Georgia State before dropping the two-goal decision to Clemson.

  • In their first four matches of the season so far, the Blazers have been outscored 11-5 by their opponents. 

  • UAB finished 3-12-2 last season with a C-USA record of 1-5-1.

Looking Ahead

  • The Demon Deacons will travel to Clemson, S.C., on Tuesday, Oct. 13 for a big ACC clash against the Tigers. The match will kick off at 7 p.m. and be televised on the ACC Network.
