
Demon Deacons Set to Open Season at Gulf Coast Showcase

Wake Forest is set to face two nationally-ranked opponents, starting the 2020-21 campaign in Ft. Myers, Fla.

FT. MYERS, Fla. – The Wake Forest women's basketball team is set to open up the 2020-21 season with three at the Gulf Coast Showcase in Ft. Myers, Fla.
In the opening game of the season, the Deacs will face No. 14 Arkansas on Friday morning. Wake Forest will also face No. 24 Missouri State in the third game of the weekend on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, the Deacs play in-state foe Davidson at 11:30 a.m.
The Demon Deacons (0-0) enter the ninth season under head coach Jen Hoover. The Deacs are coming off a run to the ACC Tournament Quarterfinals with wins over North Carolina and Virginia Tech. Ivana Raca earned ACC All-Tournament honors, averaging 20.33 points per game over the three games.
The Razorbacks (1-0) are led by Naismith and Wooden Award Watch List member Chelsea Dungee. The redshirt senior came into the season ranked eighth in the Arkansas history with 1,544 career points. The Razorbacks captured a 96-49 victory over Oral Roberts in their season opener on Wednesday.
Davidson (0-0) finished last season with a 16-15 record, reaching the quarterfinals of the Atlantic-10 tournament. The Wildcats return their top six scorers including sophomore Suzi-Rose Deegan who led the team with 15.9 points per game.
Missouri State (0-0) posted a 26-4 record last season including a 16-2 record in the Missouri Valley. The Bears return eight of their top nine scorers. The one missing returner is Alexa Willard who led the team with 16.1 points per game last season.
Tipoff for Friday morning's game against the national-ranked Razorbacks is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. (ET) in Alico Arena. The game can also be seen on FloSports ($).

IVANA EARNING NATIONAL PRAISE
Senior forward Ivana Raca was named as one of 20 national members on the Cheryl Miller Award Watch List. The award is given to the top small forward in the country.
Last season, Raca ranked fifth in the ACC in scoring with 17.2 points per game while finishing second in the league in field goals made and first in field goal attempts.
She enters the season ranked 26th in school history with 1,065 career points.
