The redshirt junior has earned the award for the first time this season as he helped shut out NC State during Saturday’s fall regular season finale.

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- For the third time in his collegiate career, Wake Forest goalkeeper Andrew Pannenberg has been named ACC Defensive Player of the Week, the league has announced. He previously earned the honor twice during the 2019 season.

Pannenberg was in net for 74 minutes during Wake Forest's 2-0 victory over NC State on Saturday night, as he combined with Dominic Peters for the Demon Deacons' fourth clean sheet of the year.

The Charlotte native has been between the posts for all four of Wake Forest's shutouts this season, as he has allowed just one goal in his last 351 minutes of action.

He currently ranks third in the ACC in goals against average (.685) and save percentage (.808).

This is the fifth time this season a Demon Deacon has earned one of the ACC's weekly awards, as Pannenberg joins Nico Benalcazar (ACC Defensive Player of the Week; Nov. 2), Omar Hernandez (ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week; Oct. 26), Kyle Holcomb (ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week; Oct. 5) and Calvin Harris (ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week; Sept. 28).

Wake Forest will return to action on Sunday afternoon when the Demon Deacons host Virginia in a quarterfinals match of the ACC Men's Soccer Championship. It will begin at 4 p.m. and be televised on the ACC Network.
