No. 8 Demon Deacons Open Spring Slate at All-American Intercollegiate

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's golf team begins their spring season this weekend in Houston, Texas at the All-American Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Houston.
The Deacons open 2020 with a mix of fresh faces and veteran talent. The lineup for the week consists of senior Eric Bae and sophomores Eugenio Chacarra and Alex Fitzpatrick who all have plenty of experience in the lineup. Chacarra was also the 2019 ACC Freshman of the Year. They are joined by two freshmen, Mark Power and Fulton Smith. While Power had plenty of team experience during the fall season, this will be just the second time Smith joins the lineup. Junior Marco Steyn will be playing the event as an individual. While the Demon Deacons are No. 8 in the NCAA Golfstat rankings as of Feb. 11, Power is the highest ranked NCAA individual for Wake Forest, coming in at 22.
Course Information: The tournament is being played at the Par 72, 7,096-yard Golf Club of Houston. As enjoyable to play as it is beautiful, this course has abundant native plants and wildlife. There is a sense of serenity and solitude unique for a course that is mere minutes from downtown Houston.
Format: 54-hole stroke play where teams play three rounds over three days. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday will all start with tee times beginning at 9 a.m. ET.

The team has put in a lot of work this spring, as the weather has been nice and warm, very mild winter. Player to Watch
With the lowest stroke average of the team and the only one to earn an individual title during the fall campaign, Mark Power is making his presence known is his debut season at Wake Forest. Making the lineup in five of the six fall events, Power is looking to become a mainstay for the Demon Deacons throughout the spring.
