Sarr Shines in Win over Notre Dame on Senior Day

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- Wake Forest basketball defeated Notre Dame 84-73 on Senior Day at the LJVM on Saturday afternoon.

Olivier Sarr had career-highs of 30 points and 17 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season to lead Wake Forest. He had Wake Forest's first 30-and-15 game since John Collins (31 pts, 15 rebs) at Duke in 2017. Chaundee Brown also had a double double with 15 points 10 rebounds. Brandon Childress added 14 points and six assists in the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Deacons used a strong offensive start to take an early 18-12 lead at the under-12 media timeout. Wake continued its offensive efficiency and used defensive stops to go on a 16-3 run to take a 39-23 lead with 3:00 in the half before taking an 11-point lead, 41-30, into halftime. Sarr led the Deacs with 16 points and 10 rebounds in the opening half.

Notre Dame (18-11, 9-9 ACC) used an early 11-0 run in the second half to cut the advantage to two at 45-43 with 14:45 to play. The game was tied 55-55 at the midway point of the second half and the teams traded the lead over the next few minutes. Wake (13-15, 6-12 ACC) led 66-61 with 5:30 to go after a 6-0 run, capped by a putback layup by Sarr. The Deacs had a late 10-0 run to extend the lead to 80-68 with 1:14 to play before closing out the 84-73 victory from the line.

Sarr had his second straight 20-point game, becoming the fourth different Demon Deacon to have back-to-back 20-point games this season (Childress, Brown, White)

Wake Forest visits North Carolina on Tuesday with game time at the Smith Center in Chapel Hill at 7 p.m. The Deacs, who topped the Tar Heels 74-57 on Feb. 11 in Winston-Salem, are looking to sweep the season series with UNC for the first time since 2003.
