No. 12 Baylor Defeats No. 6 Wake Forest

WACO, Texas- Sixth-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis (5-1) suffered its first loss of the season 5-2 at the hands of No. 12 Baylor on Thursday evening. The Bears extended their home game win streak to 22 matches.
"Congrats to Baylor," head coach Tony Bresky said. "They played an excellent match. Not the easiest place to play, but it was a great learning experience for our team. This will help us learn and improve and we look forward to another opportunity on Sunday."
Baylor jumped in front early picking up doubles wins on courts one and three to take the opening point. 117th-ranked Sven Lah and Constantin Frantzen topped Henri Squire and Eduardo Nava 6-2. Baylor clinched the point as Sebastian Nothhaft and Finn Bass defeated Bar Botzer and Morgan Dill 6-3.
The Bears extended their lead to 2-0 as No. 82 Frantzen defeated No. 100 Siddhant Banthia in the sixth spot. Taha Baadi forced a tiebreak in the second set, but fell short as No. 25 Lah picked up the 6-2, 7-6 (6) victory on court two.
Squire cruised to a 6-2 first set victory on court four, but Baylor's Ryan Dickerson took the second set 6-0 to force a third and final set for the match. Dickerson came out on top 6-3 to clinch the win for the Bears.
Remaining matches were played out. Efstathiou controlled a 6-3, 5-7, 4-1 lead on court two before his opponent retired, adding another point to the board for the Deacons. The final match of the night was a top-100 match-up between Matias Soto and Bar Botzer that fell in the favor of Baylor to seal the 5-2 victory.
Senior Eduardo Nava played his second consecutive match on court five and improved to 5-0 on the year. After dropping behind in the first set, he rallied to win the first frame 7-6 (2). He put the first point on the board for the Deacons, winning his second set 6-4.
Wake Forest returns home on Sunday for a doubleheader against Virginia and Davidson. First serve against the Cavaliers is sets for 1 p.m., with the Davidson match to follow.
