The No. 12-ranked Demon Deacons return to Winston-Salem for ACC home opener on March 8th
ATLANTA, Ga. – In its third consecutive match against a top-10 ranked opponent, the No. 12 Wake Forest women's tennis team fell to No. 10 Georgia Tech, 6-1, on Sunday.
The Demon Deacons (9-3, 1-2 ACC) were led by sophomore Saby Nihalani who picked up a victory in singles play against the Yellowjackets (14-5, 4-1 ACC).
Nihalani, who tied the match at 1-1, picked up her first ranked victory of the spring season in the No. 3 match.
Squaring off against No. 110 Cohen, Nihalani took an early lead in the match, cruising to a 6-1 win in the opening frame. She continued to dominate in the second set, jumping out to a commanding 5-0 lead before closing out Cohen, 6-1, in the second set.
Junior Eliza Omirou nearly completed a comeback in the No. 2 match against No. 71 ranked Flores. Omirou dropped a tightly contested 6-4 opening set. She bounced back in the second set, taking another closely played frame 7-6 (7-4).
In the final frame, Flores edged by Omirou 1-0 (11-9) to take the final point of the match.
After dropping the opening set to Otsuka, freshman Anna Campana nearly came all the way back to win in three sets. In the second frame, Campana bounced back to win, 6-3, pushing the match to a third and decisive set.
Campana led through much of the third set as she looked to close out the come-from-behind victory. Otsuka took the final few games to win the third set, 7-5, and take the match.
Wake fell behind early after dropping the doubles point to Georgia Tech. The Yellowjackets took the No. 1 match in 6-1 fashion as well as the No. 3 match, 6-3.

"We didn't show up the way we needed to in doubles and the first 45 minutes of singles. We tried to rally, but you don't beat a top-10 opponent on the road without a great effort from beginning to end." - Coach Jeff Wyshner
