Over the coming months, GoDeacs.com will provide a look at our student-athletes and administrators away from sports with a Get To Know You series. Be sure to follow our social media channels for more!
Today's Get to Know You is Aly Nielson, a volleyball player from Las Vegas, Nevada.
Three words your friends would use to describe you?
Outgoing, kind, loud.
Average Tuesday night dinner with the family, what are you talking about?
Sports of any kind.
What is your favorite place to go in Winston-Salem?
Camino bakery.
If you had a superpower, which one would you choose?
Spiderman's web power (if that's even a superpower).
What makes Wake Forest special to you?
Not only am I getting to play the sport that I love at such a high level, I am able to do so with the people that I love. This school promotes shared learning and places a high importance on community which makes me feel like I have a family here on campus both on and off the court.
If you didn't play this sport, what other sport would you play or what else would you do? Why?
I would most likely be a collegiate equestrian. I have been riding horses competitively since I was 12 and I picked between that and volleyball when choosing my college experience.
Describe your favorite Wake Forest memory?
One of my favorite Wake Forest memories was when our team went 10-1 this past season in preseason and we celebrated our last away preseason win together in the North Florida locker room.
