WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Five members of the Wake Forest indoor track and field teams were recognized with their selection to the All-ACC Academic team. Sophomores Zach Facioni and Andrew White were recognized from the men's team while sophomore Anna Bush, redshirt freshman Amy Harding-Delooze and grad student Johanna Schulz were honored from the women's team.
"These five young men and women embody the spirit of the student-athlete that we strive for within our programs," said head coach John Hayes. "They have all put forth great effort to succeed both in the classroom and on the track. We are very proud of their accomplishments."
Facioni has earned All-ACC Academic honors for the fifth time in his career, having gained mention on the 2018 and 2019 All-ACC Academic cross country teams and the 2019 indoor and outdoor track teams. He was a first team All-ACC honoree in both the 3,000m and 5,000m this past season. He set school records in the 3,000m (7:55.92) in winning the Iowa State Classic. He also set school records in the mile (4:01.62) and the 5,000m (14:01.66).
White earned second team All-ACC honors with a fifth place finish at the ACC championship in the weight throw with a toss of 19.13m (62'-9). He won the weight throw at the JDL DMR Invitational and finished in the top five in five meets this past season.
Bush, a multi-events athlete, had an outstanding sophomore campaign. She set the school record in the pentathlon by scoring 4,020 points in winning the Queens University Multi-Event. She won the pentathlon at the Bob Pollock Invitational at Clemson and took first in the pentathlon shot put at the ACC Championships.
Harding-Delooze was a first team All-ACC selection as a member of Wake Forest's ACC champion distance medley relay team. She helped the DMR team qualify for the NCAA Championship while also earning second team All-ACC honors in the mile. She won the mile at the Camel City Invitational with a time of 4:45.83 and posted four of the team's top six mile times during the 2019-20 season.
Schulz has earned her third All-ACC Academic award, gaining recognition on both the 2019 Indoor and Outdoor track teams. She ran the 1600 meter leg of Wake Forest's ACC Championship distance medley relay team and helped the Deacons post the seventh-fastest time in the nation. She was a first team All-ACC pick in the DMR and took second team honors in the mile.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team. A combined 89 men and women named to the All-ACC Academic Indoor Track and Field Academic Teams also earned first- or second-team All-ACC honors at this year's Championship and/or were ACC Performers of the Week during the regular season.
