The Melbourne, Australia native is one of four players in program history to net over 1,000 career points and grab 900 career rebounds.
PERTH, Australia – Former Wake Forest women's basketball standout Alex Sharp signed with the Perth Lynx of the WNBL, the team announced on Thursday.
The Melbourne, Australia native finished her Wake Forest career with 1,149 points and 921 career rebounds. She became just the fourth player in program history to net over 1,000 career points and grab 900 career rebounds.
Sharp finished her career third all-time in rebounding while her point tally ranks 21st in Demon Deacon history.
"We are so excited to see Alex achieve her dream of playing professionally," Head Coach Jen Hoover "Obviously, she has been such a big part of the Australian basketball system throughout her prep and collegiate career and it is great to see her begin her career in her home country. Sharpy was such a large part of our success over these past four seasons at Wake Forest and she will be dearly missed in our Deacon Family. We can't wait to watch her continue to grow as a player and as a woman with the Perth Lynx."
Her stellar four-year career ended after a three-day run in the ACC Tournament that saw Wake Forest reach the quarterfinals. Her 19-point and 10-rebound performance in the opening round win over North Carolina marked her 19th career double-double. Sharp finished her career ranked fifth in that category.
After an accomplished prep career as the No. 1 Australian recruit in the class of 2016, Sharp became a mainstay in the Australian National Team system.
In 2015, she helped the Australian U19 team to a bronze medal at the FIBA World Championships in Russia. Sharp also represented her country twice in the World University Games in 2017 and 2019.
During the 2019-20 season, Perth finished the season fifth in the WNBL standings with a record of 8-13. The Lynx were most recently in the WNBL Championship in the 2015-16 season.
