
Deacs Set for ITA Kickoff Weekend in Raleigh

No. 16 Wake Forest is set to take on UCF in the opening round of ITA Kickoff Weekend on Sunday.
RALEIGH, N.C. - After defeating Charlotte to begin the season, the No. 16 Wake Forest women's tennis team travels to Raleigh, N.C. to take part in ITA Kickoff Weekend.
The Demon Deacons are set to take on No. 18 UCF on the opening day with the match scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
The advancing team will face the winner of No. 8 NC State and Northwestern on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
Wake Forest is coming off a 5-2 victory over in-state Charlotte. It marked the debut for the Demon Deacons three freshmen in Brooke Killingsworth, Mia Ahmad and Casie Wooten, who all contributed to the Deacs' season opening win.
Killingsworth played out of the No. 2 singles position, capturing a three-set win (3-6, 6-2, 6-3).

LAST TIME
The Deacs captured a 5-2 victory over Charlotte in the season opener on Monday afternoon.
- Anna Brylin quickly put Wake Forest up 2-0, winning a convincing 6-1, 6-1 match in the No. 3 singles match over the 49ers' Safont.
- Maddie Lynch also finished out her victory in straight sets, winning the No. 6 match. After falling behind early in the first set, Lynch battled back to take the set, 7-5. She then controlled most of the second set en route to a 7-5, 6-4 victory.
NEXT UP
The Deacs travel to Knoxville, Tenn. to face Tennessee for a non-conference dual match on Sunday, Jan. 31.
The first serve against Tennessee is scheduled for 11 a.m.
