Redd, Ellison Garner ACC Weekly Honors

Traveon Redd was named the defensive back of the week after an 11-tackle performance while Justice Ellison earned rookie of the week honors after a team-high 67 rushing yards and touchdown in the win over Louisville.
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest football redshirt senior defensive back Traveon Redd and freshman running back Justice Ellison received ACC weekly honors for their performances in the Demon Deacons' week 5 victory over Louisville, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Redd, who was named ACC Defensive Back of the Week, and Ellison, who was the ACC Rookie of the Week, both earned the first ACC honors of their Wake Forest careers.
Defensive Back of the Week
Redd secured a team-high and career-best 11 tackles (eight solo). He nearly doubled his season total, which entering Saturday stood at 12 total tackles through four games.
With 3:47 remaining in the game, Redd forced the first fumble of his career. Redd also is tied for the team lead in interceptions with two.
He has been a key reason the Demon Deacons are currently tied for sixth in the nation with 13 turnovers gained. In total, nine Wake Forest players have forced a turnover this season.
Rookie of the Week
Ellison led Wake Forest's ground attack with 67 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries against the Cardinals. The Ashburn, Va native has now found the endzone in three-consecutive games, rushing for a touchdown each in the conference wins over Florida State, Virginia and Louisville.
41 of Ellison's rushing yards came on the final offensive drive of the game, which ultimately led to the game-winning 29-yard field goal from junior Nick Sciba. The score made it 37-34 with 22 seconds remaining in the game.
Wake Forest Being Recognized
The duo's accolades mark the fourth and fifth Demon Deacon to garner ACC weekly honors this season. Following Wake Forest's season-opening victory, senior defensive back Ja'Sir Taylor (Specialist of the Week) and freshman defensive lineman Jasheen Davis (Co-Rookie of the Week) earned honors.
Additionally, this is the second week in a row a Demon Deacon has been honored as Nick Sciba (Co-Specialist of the Week) garnered recognition after his performance at Virginia.
