10 Top-5 Performances Close Out JDL College Kick-Off

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest track & field program saw strong starts to their 2021-22 indoor seasons this weekend, competing at JDL College Kick-Off and setting multiple personal bests.
Thomas Kitchell began the season posting the fourth-best shot put in the nation with an 18.46m toss to earn a first place mark. The sophomore earned a personal best in the weight throw with a 18.25m performance, placing him in the second spot.
Senior Chanel Dawson picked up her third first place finish with a 14.50m throw in the women's shot put. As Ashlyn Giles (2nd), Janese Lynch (3rd) and Isabella Gera (5th) rounded out the women's shot put top-5.
Gera made her second top-5 spot of the day, posting a 16.42m throw in the women's weight throw, which is a personal best.
Wake Forest rounded out the first weekend of the indoor season with 10 top-5 performances, including six personal bests. The Demon Deacons will return to action on January 15th for the Mondo College Invitational in Winston-Salem.
