
Deacs Take Commanding Lead on Day One of Palmetto Intercollegiate

Four Deacs currently sit in the top six.
Kiawah Island, S.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team finished the first two rounds of the Palmetto Intercollegiate with a 16-stroke lead and four Deacs in the top six.
Sophomore Lauren Walsh led the way for the Deacs during the 36-hole day, finishing in second place at one-over par, just one stroke off the field leader. After finishing the first round in a tie for 22nd, Walsh carded five birdies on her last seven holes of the day to jump 20 spots on the board.
Senior Emilia Migliaccio and sophomore Rachel Kuehn sit in a tie for fourth, just two strokes behind Walsh. After finishing the first round in a tie for 16th with a score of 76, Migliaccio rebounded on her second 18 holes. She improved her scorecard by five strokes and shot into the top five on the leaderboard, recording three birdies on her final five holes.
Although she only carded five birdies over 36 holes, Kuehn was able to make par on 23 of her 36 holes to remain inside the top five for the first and second round.
Senior Siyun Liu sits in a tie for sixth, just one stroke behind Migliaccio and Kuehn.
Play was called due to darkness so the players with remaining holes will finish their second round at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow. The final 18 holes of the Palmetto Intercollegiate begin tomorrow at 8:30.
Final round tee times will be announced when made available.
