Sophomore Rachel Kuehn won the event by one stroke ahead of fellow Deac Lauren Walsh.
Kiawah Island, S.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team took home the Palmetto Intercollegiate team title by a margin of 28 strokes, the second-largest win margin in program history.
Wake Forest was the only team at the event to shoot even or under par in a single round. They did it in both the second (E) and final (-1) rounds. All five Demon Deacons finished in the top 25.
Sophomore Rachel Kuehn took home her second individual title, after winning the ANNIKA Intercollegiate in her first collegiate event in the fall of 2019. After carding birdies on her first two holes of the second nine she shot even par the rest of the way to hold the top spot.
Sophomore Lauren Walsh finished in second for the second-consecutive event, just one stroke behind Kuehn. After shooting a 77 in her opening round and sitting T22, she shot a team-low 68 in the second round and stayed even par in the final round to jump 20 spots on the board.
Senior Emilia Migliaccio had her best outing so far this season, finishing in fifth place. She jumped 11 spots on the leaderboard after the first round for her best finish since March 2020, when she took home the individual title at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate.
Senior Siyun Liu finished in a tie for 13th for the second consecutive event this spring, with her best scorecard coming in the opening round. Freshman Mimi Rhodes had her best showing of the event on the final 18, shooting an even par to jump 13 spots on the board. After sitting T38 after the first 36 holes, she finished the event T25.
From the Coach
"This team has a lot of depth, anyone of the players can step up and win an individual title, which makes for a strong Wake Forest team. They work hard, they root for each other, and are so excited to be back on the course after such a long sabbatical. We are looking forward to a short turnaround and competing next week against another strong field at South Carolina." head coach Kim Lewellen
