The No. 11 Demon Deacons secured a resounding win versus the Miami Hurricanes thanks to strong play in singles and doubles.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The No. 11 Wake Forest men's tennis team secured the conference sweep over Miami (3-6, 2-3 ACC) at Wake Forest Tennis Center.
The Deacs started off the day by clinching the doubles point with wins by No. 18 Henri Squire and Eduardo Nava on court one and Taha Baadi and Melios Efstathiou on court three. Due to the match being clinch-clinch, play finished after the two wins. The court two matchup with Siddhant Banthia and Matthew Thomson went unfinished.
The Old Gold and Black continued their strong play into singles with three straight-set victories in a row to quickly secure the win for the Deacs.
Filippo Moroni picked up the first win of the night with a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Soon after that, Henri Squire snagged a strong win over No. 34-ranked Barrera. Junior Siddhant Banthia clinched the win for the Demon Deacons.
The remaining matches involving No. 107 Taha Baadi, No. 92 Rrezart Cungu, and Melios Efstathiou went unfinished to finish out the day.
Quotable:
"Obviously, our guys played a nice doubles point outdoors. Then it was a quick turnaround to go indoors. Miami does not get to play a lot indoors and our guys did a nice job of taking advantage of that and jumped on them early.
The team is getting better. We are fortunate, we have been healthy. We are getting the matches and the repetitions. It showed tonight and we are looking forward to a big day tomorrow." - Coach Tony Bresky
