WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest women's golf team heads to Georgia for the Valspar Augusta Invitational this weekend at the Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.
The Deacs are coming off a second-place finish two weeks ago at the Gamecock Intercollegiate, which had arguably the toughest field of any event this spring with 11 of the then-top 15 teams in the country. Of the three events Wake Forest has played in this spring, they have either won or come in second in all three.
Sophomore Rachel Kuehn, who was just named to the Spring ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel Watch List with fellow sophomore Lauren Walsh, took home the individual title two events ago at the Palmetto Intercollegiate. Walsh has two second place finishes under her belt headed into the Valspar Augusta Invitational and has been the top finisher for the Deacs twice.
Wake Forest is currently ranked No. 1 in the latest GolfStat rankings and No. 3 in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin rankings. Duke and Florida State are right behind the Deacs at No. 2 and 5 in Golfstat.
Course Information: The tournament is being played at the Par 72, 6,249-yard Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. The 18-hole course was originally designed by world renowned course architect Donald Ross, but it was renovated by the Arnold Palmer Company in 2004. Forest Hills is repeatedly named "Best Public Course" by Augusta Magazine and offers traditional Southern topography with level, rolling fairways surrounded by magnificent trees.
Format: 54-hole stroke play where teams will play three rounds over two days. Saturday's 36 holes will begin with a shotgun at 8:00 a.m. ET. Sunday's final round will have a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. ET
