
Demon Deacons Head to Florida for Valspar Collegiate

Winston-Salem, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's golf team heads to Florida for the Valspar Collegiate, hosted by Houston, in Palm City.
The Deacs are feeling good, coming off two consecutive team titles along with freshman Michael Brennan winning two consecutive individual titles at the Kiawah Invitational and the Wake Forest Invite at Pinehurst No. 2. Of the four events Wake Forest has played this spring, they have finished tied for first, second, first and first, with multiple Deacs inside the top 10 in each one.
Wake Forest is currently ranked No. 3 in the latest Golfstat and Golfweek/Sagarin rankings.
Course Information
The tournament is being played at the par 71, 7,114 yard Floridian Golf Club in Palm City, Florida. The 18-hole course offers perfectly manicured rolling fairways and greens, demanding hazards, breathtaking views of the St. Lucie River, and is surrounded by natural preserve and native wildlife.
Format
54-hole stroke play where teams play three rounds over two days. Monday's first two rounds will begin with a shotgun at 8:30am ET. The final round will be Tuesday morning.
Player to Watch
Michael Brennan
Brennan is the first freshman in program history to win back-to-back events, doing so at the Kiawah Invitational February 16 and the Wake Forest Invite at No. 2 March 2. Wake Forest took home the team titles at both events as well. Brennan leads the Deacs with the lowest stroke average, at 68.83 and nine of his 12 rounds have been even or under par.
