Wake Forest Opens Four-Game Home Stand on Tuesday Versus Charlotte

Deacs look to bounce back against in-state foe.
GAME NOTES
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest is set to begin a four-game home stand with a midweek matchup against Charlotte on Tuesday at David F. Couch Ballpark.
The Deacs (3-6, 1-4 ACC) return to their home confines after the team's first road trip of the 2021 campaign and will look to get back to their winning ways against the 49ers (8-6, 0-0 C-USA), who head to Winston-Salem after losing three straight against East Carolina.
First pitch is set for 4 p.m ET. Fans can catch the game on ACC Network, or stream the radio broadcast live through the Wake Forest Athletics app.

Seymour is set to become the 28th player in Wake Forest history to join the 200-Hit club as the junior is just 23 base hits away from the mark.
Jake Mueller (2016-19) was the last Deac to reach the mark with 203 base hits.
Michael Turconi is currently 14 hits from joining the 100-hit crew, as the sophomore has recorded 86 hits through 76 career games.
Last Time Out
The Deacs head into Tuesday's game after their first road trip of the 2021 season against No. 5 Miami.
In the series opener on Friday night, the Hurricanes took a 10-0 victory thanks to seven combined runs in the fifth and sixth innings as a springboard to clinch the series opener.
In game two on Saturday, the Deacs took an early lead 3-1 thanks to home runs by Bobby Seymour (solo) and Brock Wilken (two-run shot) heading into the middle of the sixth. The Canes responded with four runs of their own to retake the lead, and never looked back to clinch the series.

Wake Forest holds a 43-30-1 advantage all-time versus the 49ers, including a 6-4 mark in the last 10 games against the in-state foe.
The Deacs have outscored Charlotte by a tally of 36-12 in the last two matchups, both coming in 2019.
On April 23, 2019, Wake Forest picked up a 18-6 win after Michael Turconi went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs scored and Bobby Seymour brought home four runs.
49ers Preview
The top of UNC Charlotte's lineup will present a mid-week challenge for the Deacs. Center fielder Craig Keuchel leads off for the 49ers, leading the team in batting average, slashing .370/.379/.630 with four home runs and 11 RBIs.
Batting second, third baseman Austin Knight is also off to a great start in 2021. The sophomore leads Charlotte in stolen bases with five while slashing .357/.410/.679. Meanwhile, first baseman David McCabe is putting up massive power numbers early in the season. Batting out of the third slot, the freshman leads the team with eight home runs and 17 RBIs in just 12 starts.
In the team's last midweek game against Tennessee, Austin Mazoras took the mound for the 49ers. The 6-8 right-hander earned the win with six innings of shutout ball. Christian Lothes anchors the 49er bullpen early in the 2021 season. The freshman ranks third on the team with 19 strikeouts across 11.1 innings in five appearances.
