Wake Forest Returns to Sunshine State for John Hayt Invitational

Winston-Salem, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's golf team heads to Florida for the third time this spring, to play in the John Hayt Invitational, hosted by North Florida, in Ponte Vedra Beach.
The Deacs are coming off a second-place finish two weeks ago in Palm City at the Valspar Collegiate. Junior Alex Fitzpatrick headlined for Wake Forest, bringing home his first collegiate title and earning an exemption into the 2022 PGA Valspar Championship. In his bogey-free final round, Fitzpatrick hit all 18 greens in regulation. Of the five events Wake Forest has played this spring, they have finished tied for first, second, first, first and second with three individual champions along the way.
Wake Forest is currently ranked No. 2 in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin rankings and No. 3 in the latest GolfStat rankings.
Course Information
The tournament is being played at the par 72, 6,966-yard Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The East -West course formerly hosted The Players Championship tournament from 1977 to 1981 prior to the tournament moving to its present location.
Format
54-hole stroke play where teams play three rounds over two days. Sunday's first two rounds will begin with a shotgun at 8:00 a.m. ET. The final round will begin Monday morning with split tee tee times starting at 8:00 a.m.
Player to Watch
BJ Rogillio
Rogillio has played in the lineup for three of the five events so far this season and has improved his scorecard and finish in every event. In his Wake Forest debut at the Kiawah Invitational in February, he shot a 218 and finished T39. A month later, in his third event, he shot a 211 and finished inside the top 15 at T14.
