
Wake Forest Set to Finish 2021 Regular Season

No. 10 Demon Deacons look to cap off the season with a perfect record against the Big Four.
RALEIGH, N.C. – After taking down No. 2 UNC and No. 38 Duke on the road, the No. 10 Wake Forest men's tennis looks to complete the sweep of the Big 4 and finalize the regular season portion of their schedule as they head to No. 25-ranked NC State on Saturday. First serve at NC State is set for 1 p.m. ET.
Following the conclusion of the NC State match, the Demon Deacons will head to NC Central for a tune up at 5:30 p.m.
Wake Forest is 25-5 this season, which is the fifth-most wins in a single season. The Deacs are 10-1 in ACC play with the only loss coming from No. 5 Virginia (5-2).
Three Demon Deacons appear in this week's singles and doubles rankings by ITA/Oracle. In singles, three Wake Forest players are ranked:

Following this weekend's action, the Demon Deacons will head to Rome, Ga., for the next weekend's ACC Championships which will begin on Friday, April 23.

LAST TIME OUT
- A battle in doubles and three straight-set triumphs in singles play pushed the Wake Forest men's tennis team past Duke at Ambler Tennis Stadium.
- The victory was Wake Forest's sixth straight win over Duke and seventh straight ACC win, moving the Deacs to 10-1 in conference play. The Demon Deacons lead the ACC in total wins with 25 with the closest being Virginia's 16 wins.
- The freshman, Filippo Moroni clinched the match with a comprehensive, 6-3, 7-6 (2), dub over Michael Hellerat No. 6. Moroni's win moves his streak to three.
- Saturday's match marks the 52nd all-time meeting between the two schools with the Demon Deacons leading the series, 41-11.
- Wake Forest has won five straight in the series, including a 4-2 victory during the teams' last matchup on March 20, 2019.
- The Wolfpack are looking to get back on track after pausing activities due to COVID procedures within their program. Matches at Duke and North Carolina were postponed.
- Before the pause, NC State defeated Clemson, 4-1 for their seventh conference win. They are tied for third with No. 3 UNC in the ACC.
- NC State has two ranked in the latest ITA/Oracle singles rankings:
- No. 19 Alexis Galarneau
- No. 76 Rafa Izquierdo Luque
- Three in doubles:
- No. 23 Yannai Barkai and Tadas Babelis
- No. 35 Tadas Babelis and Robin Catry
- No. 65 Alexis Galardneau and Robert Turzak
- It will be the second meeting between the Demon Deacons and Eagles, Wake Forest leads the series, 1-0.
- Freshman Stipan Madzar registered the only point for the NCCU men's tennis team in a 6-1 MEAC road loss at South Carolina State University.
- The Eagles only win came against Charleston, 4-3.
