
Bachmann, Dawson, Hutchins Lead Deacs in Final Day at Virginia Challenge

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Wake Forest continued competition on day two of the Virginia Challenge at Lannigan Field with three top-10 performances in school history and two first place finishes. The Deacs were led by Chanel Dawson, Aleeya Hutchins and Kenton Bachmann as they garnered record performances.
Chanel Dawson placed eighth with a throw of 14.99m in the finals of the women's shot put. Redshirt junior Janese Lynch notched an impressive finish for the fourth best mark with her toss of 14.40m in the women's shot put.
On the track, the Demon Deacons were paced by freshman Aleeya Hutchins in the 800m dash with a time of 2:06.67. That places her fourth in the program history. On the men's side, Kenton Bachmann had an impressive 800m run and turned in a 1:49.11 time, which is the fifth fastest in program history.
To round out the day, Tony Jones picked up a second place finish with a 2.15m high jump and Cassie Martin added a first place with her 1.73m jump of her own. Anna Rybezynski earned a personal best in the 800m with a time of 2:10.57 and Archie Wallis put in a season best effort in the 800m.
Overall for the day, Wake Forest had 12 student-athletes compete and three record top-3 finishes. All results are listed below.
