Demon Deacons Set for Charlotte Invitational

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Wake Forest track & field program is prepared to take a quick road trip 80 miles southwest for the Charlotte Invitational. Competitors from nine schools will take part in the competition Friday (April 23) and Saturday (April 24) at the Irwin Belk Track & Field facility.
Events get underway at 2:30 p.m. on Friday and at 9 a.m. Saturday. A total of 35 Demon Deacons are prepared to compete in 20 different events throughout the two days of action. The Charlotte Invitational is the sixth meet outdoor meet this season.
Recently, the Demon Deacons were led by Zach Facioni, who broke his own school record for the second time in two weeks but this time in a different event. The junior from Sydney, Australia placed first in the Men's 5000m exceeding his own previous school record by thirteen seconds and setting a new meet and facility record in the process.

Wake Forest's men's 5000m event group of Zach Facioni, Aaron Las Heras, Jack Tiernan and Joaquin Martinez reached a ranking of No. 4 in the nation according to the USTFCCCA.
The men's 1500m event group of Zach Facioni, Aaron Las Heras, Joaquin Martinez and Ben Hill have earned the rank of No. 7 in the country with their average time of 3:43.11.
