Squire Highlights All-ACC Honors for Deacs

Wake Forest tied for most awards in ACC with five.
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Wake Forest men's tennis picked up a number of postseason conference accolades as Henri Squire was named ACC Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the All-ACC First Team, the league announced Thursday.
Additionally, senior Eduardo Nava made All-ACC Second Team, while senior Rrezart Cungu and sophomore Taha Baadi were listed on the All-ACC Third Team.
Wake Forest's five ACC honors is tied for first with the Virginia Cavaliers who claimed Player of the Year and Coach of the Year honors.
Squire is the fifth rookie Demon Deacon to nab the postseason award for Wake Forest and this marks his first All-ACC award of his career. Squire was deemed a true freshman due to the fact he didn't redshirt last year and this being his athletic freshman year.
For the first time since Petros Chrysochos earned the accolade in 2016, a Wake Forest rookie earned the ACC Freshman of the Year honor. Squire, who picked up two conference accolades, was 8-5 in ranked singles play. The Düsseldorf, Germany native played all at the No. 1 singles position and garnered an impressive 15-6 record, including four wins over opponents ranked inside the top-50.
Partnering with Nava for the Demon Deacons, Squire and Nava went 13-5 in doubles play with four wins against nationally ranked duos. Throughout ACC doubles play, the No. 1 doubles only dropped one doubles match.
Nava earned his first-career All-ACC selection after holding the No. 2 and No. 3 singles position all season for the Demon Deacons. He is 17-3 overall and finished 7-1 in conference play. He currently holds the No. 41 spot in the singles ranking, and finished the regular season on a 11 match win streak. He claimed a 3-1 record against nationally ranked opponents, including a three-set thrilling clinch win over former No. 18 Philip Henning of Georgia.
Cungu nabbed his first All-ACC honors as he led Wake Forest in singles wins with a 20-4 record. He dipped his hand at every position but mostly playing between the No. 4 and No. 6 positions. The senior was 9-1 in ACC singles action and earned one win over a nationally ranked opponent.
Baadi has been named to the All-ACC Third Team. The Quebec, Canada native recorded a 13-8 singles record and went 5-3 in ACC action. He ended the regular season on a five-match win streak, including four wins over ranked opponents. He is also 12-5 in doubles and went 4-2 in conference play.
In his Demon Deacon' debut, Baadi has recorded wins over the No. 43, No. 59, No. 66 and No. 75 ranked players in the nation.
