Wake Forest Host Easter Sunday Doubleheader

No. 14 Demon Deacons look to build on their five match win streak at home.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's tennis team is set to play two matches, hosting No. 32 VCU and Coastal Carolina on Easter Sunday at the Wake Forest Tennis Center.
 
The first serve on Sunday versus the VCU (12-1, 3-0 A10) is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET and the second half of the doubleheader with the Chants (6-4, 1-1 SBC) begin at 4:30 p.m. ET.

Wake Forest goes into the matches this weekend sporting a 76-3 home record since 2016-17. This includes an impressive 42-2 record the past three seasons. The Deacs are 16-2 at home this season.

Wake Forest men's tennis team dropped a tough road match at No. 13 ranked UCF Wednesday afternoon at USTA Nationals Campus.
  • UCF (13-3, 2-0 AAC) started off the match by taking the doubles point on courts one and two. Siddhant Banthia and Matthew Thomson were left unfinished leading 5-4.
  • After UCF took the 1-0 lead, the Demon Deacons (21-5, 8-1 ACC) rebounded in singles play by picking up a straight set win from Eduardo Nava, knotting the score up at 1-1 with five singles matches remaining. That win is his seventh-straight in singles.
  • The Old Gold and Black claimed the lead with Banthia and Rrezart Cungu picking up straight-set wins, giving the Demon Deacons the 3-1 lead.
  • Despite extremely hard-fought efforts, Melios EfstathiouTaha Baadi and Henri Squire dropped three-set-matches which ultimately completed the comeback win for UCF.
 
NEXT UP
The Deacs are back on the road, traveling to UNC, Duke and NC State this next week, respectively.

The first serve against UNC is set for 3 p.m. in Chapel Hill, N.C.
