The freshman pitcher earns midseason recognition as one of the top relievers in the country.
GREENVILLE, N.C. - Eric Adler was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award Midseason Watch List, announced by the organization this week.
Adler was selected to the annual award's watch list as one of the top 65 relief pitchers in the country as the freshman has tossed 13.1 innings this season, striking out 17 batters and tallying five saves, the fourth-most in the ACC, while only conceding 10 hits and three earned runs, good for a 2.03 ERA.
The Rockledge, Fla. native has struck out a season-high two batters in six appearances, including in three-straight games against Elon and Florida State. Additionally, the right hander blanked Wake Forest's opposition in eight contests, allowing zero hits or earned runs.
On Feb. 19, Adler earned the first win of his career after tossing 1.1 innings in Wake Forest's 8-6 season-opening victory.
The NCBWA will announce the finalists for the top relief pitcher in the country on Wednesday, June 9 with the winner being named on Saturday, June 19 at the 2021 College World Series.
Wake Forest returns to action this weekend at David F. Couch Ballpark against NC State in a Big Four set on April 30- May 2.
On May 1, the Deacs will be hosting its first-ever Fight Against Pediatric Cancer Game, where fans will be given the opportunity to bid on special edition, game-worn jerseys with all proceeds being donated to Brenner Children's Hospital. Bid now.
