
Three Deacs Ready for Cavalier Match Play

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Three Demon Deacons head to Charlottesville, Virginia for the inaugural Cavalier Match Play event, hosted by Virginia.
Junior Vanessa Knecht, sophomore Lauren Walsh and freshman Mimi Rhodes will be representing the Gold and Black over the two-day event. This will be Vanessa's second appearance this spring for Deacs after competing in the Big Four Challenge two weeks ago as an individual.
Walsh has played in the lineup for Wake Forest in every event this spring, registering four top 15 finishes in four events. She also leads the team with a 71.58 stroke average in 12 rounds. Rhodes has also appeared in every event for the Deacs in her debut season with four top 25 finishes in four events. She also went 2-0 in her match play round at the Big Four Challenge.
Cavalier Match Play is the final regular season event for Wake Forest until they get ready to defend their ACC team and individual titles at the ACC Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina, April 15-18.
Course Information
The event will be held at the par 71, 6,118-yard Birdwood Golf Course in Charlottesville, Virginia. The new Davis Love III designed golf course opened to the public on July 1. Out of nearly 350 courses in Virginia, Golf Magazine rated the new Birdwood Golf Course as the seventh best course in the state.
Format
Three rounds of match play over two days, with the first and second matches coming on Tuesday and the final match coming on Wednesday morning. Tuesday's first match will begin with tee times starting at 7:45 and the second match's tee times will begin at 12:15. Wednesday's final match tee times will begin at 7:45.
Follow the Action
Play will begin on Tuesday, April 6 with tee times from 7:45 to 10:17 a.m. ET. A complete recap with full results will be posted on GoDeacs.com following each day's play.
