Wake Forest is set to make its 46th appearance in the NCAA Championship, the most among ACC schools and 11th most in the nation.
CLE ELUM, Wash. - The Wake Forest men's golf team punched its ticket to the NCAA Championships Wednesday at the NCAA Cle Elum Regional.
Wake Forest is 11th in the country and has the highest total in the ACC with 46 NCAA Championship appearances in program history.
The Demon Deacons, who placed third in the tournament with a three-round score of 850 (-2), were led all week by Alex Fitzpatrick who finished the week tied for second and just one stroke away from the individual title.
For the third consecutive day, the junior from Sheffield, England carded a round of par or better, posting a final round 71 (E).
He was one of just seven players in the field to finish the week below par on par-four holes, posting a three-day total of 3-under on those holes. Additionally, Fitzpatrick had the low round for the Deacs each day.
Parker Gillam, who finished inside of the top 15 on the leaderboard, was one of three Demon Deacons to post a round of even par on Wednesday. He was one of three Deacs to have his score count for the team in all three rounds of play.
In total, Wake Forest had four players place inside of the top 25 on the individual leaderboard as Mark Power tied for 20th while Eric Bae finished in a tie for 22nd.
Seven total ACC programs qualified for the NCAA Championships, the most of any conference in the country. No other conference had more than five schools advance to the Championships.
Coach's Comments
"We are very pleased with how the guys responded today after a tough round yesterday. They kept their composure and were able to finish the job today. Our goal from day one was to make Championships and we've done that. So now, we've got a bigger goal. We'll get back to Winston, rest and prepare then head out next week. Let's go Deacs!" head coach Jerry Haas

With the Demon Deacon women's golf team qualifying last week for the NCAA Championships, Wake Forest is one of just three schools in the nation to have both their men's and women's programs qualify for the NCAA Championships during the last two events (Arizona State and Texas).
In the last NCAA Championship in 2019, the men and women's programs advanced to match play. Wake Forest was one of just three schools to have both programs move on to the match play portion of the Championship.
