Demon Deacons Secure Spot in Top 15 at NCAA Championships

The Demon Deacons must maintain field position inside the top eight tomorrow to advance.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The Wake Forest women's golf team will advance to the final round of stroke play Monday after maintaining their spot inside the top eight in the third round of Championship play.
Senior Siyun Liu was the low Deac for the day, finishing even par after two birdies and two bogeys. Through her first nine holes of the day she went bogey-free. Emilia Migliaccio and Rachel Kuehn were right behind Liu, each finishing one over par for the day.
Tied with Florida State on the final hole of the day, Migliaccio had a perfect up and down out of a left bunker on the par four ninth hole to card a par. The Seminoles had two bogeys on the final hole so the Deacs finished a stroke ahead on the leaderboard.
After opening her round with a bogey and birdie in her first two holes, Kuehn got her putts to drop right on time with a birdie on seven and finished the day with pars on eight and nine. Her third-round score of 73 matched her opening round and was a two-stroke improvement from day two.
Migliaccio and Liu each sit inside the top 25 in the field, entering the final round of stroke play T23. An individual champion will be crowned at the end of the round tomorrow while just the top eight teams will advance to match play on Tuesday. A team champion will be decided in the Championship match on Wednesday afternoon.
Tee times for the final round of stroke play will begin at 3:00 p.m. ET on Monday. Wake Forest will be paired with Florida State and Arizona.
