Wake Forest Caps Off NCAA East Prelims

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Wake Forest closes out competition at the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds inside the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium.
On the final day of action, Cassie Martin, Elise Wright and Hannah Brookover rounded out the Deacs competition. Martin finished with a 1.72m leap in the high jump which placed her T-18th while Wright and Brookover placed 31st and 40th, respectively.
Rounding It Out
Zach Facioni will represent the Deacs in the 5000-meter event at nationals, which will be held June 8-11 in Eugene, Oregon. To qualify for the championships, an athlete must have finished top-12 in their respective event at the regional meet.
Five Demon Deacon athletes placed top-20 in their respective events over the four days, narrowly missing the top-12 cutoff to earn a spot at the national championships.
"We had several close misses but overall it was not the meet we were hoping for. We came here with a solid number of athletes and had a pretty strong year leading up to this weekend. We are excited to qualify Zach and are confident he will represent the Deacs well out in Eugene."
