Wake Forest Delivers Six to All-ACC Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Wake Forest delivered six Demon Deacons to the All-ACC Academic Team, announced by the league on Wednesday.
Mia Albery, Hannah Betfort, Giovanna DeMarco, Sophie Faircloth, Carrie McIntire and Kaitlyn Parks all garnered the prestigious honor thanks to a combination of academic and athletic achievements during the 2020-21 campaign.
Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

- Helped record six shutouts
- One of the anchors on the defense line
- Tallied one assist in the first Duke matchup
- Attempted one shot vs Elon
- Appeared and started in the first nine games
- Received Third Team ACC Honors
- Finished the 2021 campaign with one assist as she anchored a defensive back line
- Betfort became the sixth Demon Deacon to be selected in the NWSL Draft and the ninth currently on a professional team
- Served as a team captain for the second-straight year
- Took seven shots with two on goal
- Appeared and started in 10 games
- Tied for fifth on team in shots (14) with half of those on goal (7)
- Played in seven full games, missing last four games
- Appeared and started in all 14 games
- Earned ACC All-Freshman Team Honors
- Led the team in seven offensive categories: goals (4), points (10), shot percentage (.364), penalty goals (1-1), minutes played (1,321), games started (14) and assists (2).
- Scored a Olimpico goal for her first career goal against UNC
- Knocked in two goals in the 4-3 defeat against Virginia Tech
- Found back of the net in the spring versus Elon and added an assist
- Appeared in 14 games and started 13
- Finished fifth on the team with 1062 minutes played
- Led the team in attempted shots (25), including 11 on goal (.440 percent)
- Found the net once in the fall opener versus Duke and picked up an assist
- Tallied her second assist of the season to Ryanne Brown who knocked in the game-winner
- Made 43 saves (.768 percent) on 123 shots faced while allowing just 13 goals.
- Tallied a career-high nine saves in the 1-0 win over No. 14 Notre Dame
- Made five or more saves in five games
- Earned three ACC Weekly honors and was the first player in ACC history to be announced as the Defensive Player of the Week in consecutive weeks.
