Three Deacons Tabbed to All-ACC Academic Team

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Three members of the Wake Forest Outdoor Track and Field team have been selected to the 2021 All-ACC Academic Team, the ACC office announced on Thursday.
On the men's side, junior Zach Facioni and Michael Yow were selected. For the women, graduate student Hannah Brookover represents the Deacons.
"I am so proud of Zach, Michael and Hannah," head coach John Hayes said. "They define what it means to be a student-athlete. This is something that we shouldn't ever take for granted."
Facioni is fresh off an All-American Honorable Mention at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon in the men's 5000m. He picked up his second ACC silver medal in the 5000m in the ACC and qualified for the NCAA Championships with a 7th-place finish at the East Region Preliminaries. The junior set the school record in the outdoor 1500-meter (3:39.87) and 5000-meter (13:30.84).
Yow, a Keene, Texas native, capped off his graduate season with a 27th place finish at the NCAA East Prelims. He earned All-ACC Second Team honors with a toss of 61.86m in the hammer throw, placing him 6th at the ACC Outdoor Championship. Yow also owns the second-best hammer toss in Wake Forest history.
Brookover tabbed Second Team All-ACC in outdoor. Brookover placed 5th in the 3000m steeplechase at the ACC Outdoor Championships in Raleigh, N.C. She qualified for the NCAA East Prelims with a 10:02.20 mark. This is her second honor with her first occurring in 2017.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
