WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest women's golf and head coach Kim Lewellen have announced the addition of Virunpat Olankitkunchai to the roster for the 2021-22 season.
"I have watched and admired Virunpat's game throughout her undergraduate career at Maryland," said head coach Kim Lewellen. "She's coming to Wake Forest with a phenomenal resume, mature approach to the game and a contagious personality. We are looking forward to having her rep the Old Gold and Black while she pursues a masters degree in Analytics through the Wake Forest School of Business."
Olankitkunchai had a decorated career at Maryland, qualifying for the NCAA Championships twice as an individual and earning All-Big Ten honors in 2019 and 2021. She also earned WGCA All-America Honorable Mention in 2021. During her All-America season, Olankitkunchai set the school record for the Terps with the lowest season scoring average of 71.22.
Olankitkunchai competed in every single event for the Terps during her four-year career, earning 24 top-25 finishes in 39 events. She was the first-ever Terrapin to qualify for NCAA Championships as an individual in 2019 and was the first-ever Terrapin to be selected for the Arnold Palmer Cup in 2021, where she represented her home country of Thailand for Team International.
