Seven Demon Deacons Earn ITA Scholar-Athlete Status

Along with the individuals, the team as a whole was named ITA All-Academic Team
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Wake Forest women's tennis program earned numerous academic distinctions from the ITA on Monday afternoon.
Seven Demon Deacons were named ITA Scholar-Athletes while the Deacs earned ITA All-Academic Team honors as a group.
After a third consecutive run to the NCAA Round of 32, Mia Ahmad, Anna Brylin, Anna Campana, Brooke Killingsworth, Eliza Omirou, Peyton Pesavento and Casie Wooten all earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status for their work off of the court.
Along with helping the team reach the second round of the tournament, Brylin, Campana, Killingsworth and Omirou all qualified for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships. The Deacs had multiple members advance in Orlando and had the most individuals on the roster qualify for the tournaments in program history.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:
- have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
- be listed on the institutional eligibility form
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements:
- have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale),
- all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and
- all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year
