WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team and head coach Kim Lewellen have announced the complete schedule for the 2021 fall and 2022 spring seasons.
"We are very excited to be able to get a full season in for the first time in two years," said Lewellen. "Not having the spring or fall seasons in 2020 was not ideal, but we are excited to once again have eight regular season events on the calendar. We'll see some tough competition all year to prepare us for the postseason. The team is ready to get back on campus and build off the momentum from this past spring."
The Deacs have a full fall and spring slate for the first time since the 2019-20 season, with four events in the fall and four regular season events in the spring. Wake Forest will return to the prestigious ANNIKA Intercollegiate and get back to co-hosting the Bryan Intercollegiate with UNCG in Greensboro in September. In October, the Deacs will continue down Tobacco Road for the Ruth Chris Invitational, hosted by North Carolina, and will play in the Landfall Tradition, hosted by UNC Wilmington.
The spring will open in February with the UCF Challenge, where the Deacs finished second last spring. Wake Forest will then return to the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate where they won by an astounding 26 strokes in 2020 and saw Emilia Migliaccio take home the individual title. The month of March will continue with the Northrop Grumman Regional in Palos Verdes, California, which consistently has one of the toughest fields of any event in collegiate golf. The Deacs will close out their regular season with the Liz Murphey Collegiate, a match play event hosted by the University of Georgia, to prepare for postseason match play.
Postseason play will begin in April with the ACC Championships, which will be held at The Reserve Golf Club in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. The Deacs finished second in stroke play and third in match play at the 2021 Championships in Greensboro. NCAA Regionals will take place May 9-11 and the 2022 NCAA Championships will be May 20-25 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
