Demon Deacons in Summer Ball
Cape Cod Baseball League
Eric Adler (Bourne Braves)- "The experience has been wonderful. It has lived up and surpassed the hype around it. On top of that, my coaches and teammates have been awesome. Everyone gelled together on the first day we met. I strongly believe this is why we've have such great success. It has truly been an experience of a lifetime. I have loved every minute of it. It's also great to see my teammates from Wake Forest excel on their own teams as well. With as much fun as I'm having here, I cannot wait to get back to school and work towards a championship with my brothers. I really feel that this year will change the direction of Wake Forest baseball and set a new standard for the years to come."
Adler has been lights out for the Braves in the closer role this summer, tallying a league-high six saves with 22 strikeouts in 11 scoreless innings on the mound. The right hander joined elite company after another scoreless outing on July 20, becoming the first Cape Cod Baseball league reliever to tally an 0.00 ERA with 10 or more strikeouts and less than 2.5 walks per nine innings since Marcus Stroman in 2010.

Teddy McGraw (Brewster Whitecaps)- "It's been a great experience so far with the Whitecaps. I've been around a winning culture filled with great teammates and coaches, and have been able to work on my skills while playing against some of the best competition in the nation. This summer has given me the opportunity to improve in many areas and I'm looking forward to getting back to work with my Wake Forest family."
After starting the summer in the Perfect Game Collegiate League, McGraw traveled up to the Cape and made some noise in his four starts on the hill.
Teddy McGraw, RHP (2023) @WakeBaseball @WhitecapsCCBL sat 92-95 mph on the sinker w/ plus A/S run, tunneled a tight gyro slider with late dump, and a firm changeup with moderate A/S run. Only a couple of mistakes all day, did a nice job of locating east to west. #PGCape pic.twitter.com/h41xRSXAvz

On the mound for @WhitecapsCCBL is @WakeBaseball RHP Teddy McGraw, who is simply electric through 2 scoreless. Big and physical, attacking at 94-95 with serious sink and arm-side run from 3/4 slot, flashed plus slider at 82-85, firm but useful change at 89-90. He's the real deal. pic.twitter.com/odXq8JWdY7

Brock Wilken (Harwich Mariners)- "The Cape has been an awesome experience. Everything is so different up here. No fast food or outdoor showers, it's an awesome experience outside of the field. On the field, it's the most fun I've ever had playing baseball. It's such a great experience being here. I couldn't imagine how everything is playing out so well. Having some success against the best competition in college baseball around the country is eye opening and I couldn't be happier. Playing with Brendan Tinsman and against Teddy McGraw and Eric Adler is so awesome. Playing against your brothers and trying to beat them, but also knowing you are brothers as soon as the games over is awesome. I've made some best friends and connections I'll never forget. It's going to help me leading into the next year because I know what I'm up against the next couple of years. Also, it will help me develop. Playing every day is the best thing about this place. Playing here is helping me learn and grow more mentally and physically, on and off the field every single day. I couldn't think of anywhere better to play all summer. This has been the greatest experience of my life for sure."
Wilken has been on a tear at the plate at the Cape. The third baseman leads the league in hits (28) and is tied for the most doubles (8). Additionally, his 20 RBIs are tied for the second-most and his batting average of .318 also ranks in the top five in the CCBL.
On July 20, Wilken joined Wake Forest teammate Eric Adler as a CCBL All-Star.

Pierce Bennett (Charlottesville Tomsox)- "Charlottesville has been a great fit for myself this summer, the city is remarkable and a lot of fun and the team is filled with talent and hard working guys. This summer gave me the opportunity to better myself as an all around player in a rather more relaxed atmosphere compared to the spring. It allowed for me to work on mechanical adjustments and to get stronger in the gym for the school season. I am very excited to get back to school and keep working with my brothers."
Bennett has made 23 appearances this summer, tallying a .325 batting average with seven doubles, 11 RBIs and a home run.

I think this league has aided to my confidence and competitive attitude - two things I'm looking forward to bringing to the Deacs in 2022."
